Member representing Ughelli North Constituency I, at the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Matthew Onojighofia Omonade has revealed that his encounter with the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development Olorogun Festus Keyamo (SAN) changed the trajectory of his life as an upcoming law graduate decades ago.
Omonade gave this revelation while expressing gratitude to the Minister for making his dreams come true as a vibrant Lawyer cum lawmaker.
A Heart of Gratitude
After my Nigerian Law School programme in 2010, while awaiting the release of the Bar Finals results, I enlisted in the NYSC and was posted to Abuja. While in camp at Kubwa, I reached out to Festus Keyamo, SAN, Honourable Minister for Aviation and Aerospace, and upon receiving my message, he graciously took steps to ensure I was posted to his law firm, Festus Keyamo Chambers, for my primary assignment.
That singular act of kindness changed the trajectory of my life.
I had the rare privilege of entering his chambers even before I was called to the Nigerian Bar, and I was eventually called to the Bar while still under his tutelage. From that moment till today, I have known no other professional home. He believed in me when I was still finding my path, entrusted me with high-profile matters, and gave me opportunities many young lawyers can only dream of.
Beyond the law, he has shown me uncommon love, patience, and mentorship. Even in moments when I faltered, he never cast me aside. His support has been constant, his guidance steady, and his faith in me unwavering.
Despite the enormous demands of national service and his very busy schedule, he still finds time to take my calls and respond to my messages. Today, upon my arrival in the Federal Capital Territory, I reached out to inform him I was in town, and without hesitation, he graciously granted me an appointment.
Sir, your love, kindness, and fatherly guidance have shaped my life in ways words cannot fully express. I remain eternally grateful for your belief in me and for the doors you have opened and continue to open for me.
May God Almighty continue to strengthen you, enlarge your coast, and reward you abundantly.
With deep respect and gratitude,
Hon. Matthew Onojighofia Omonade, Esq.
